Spreading misinformation about fellow candidates and creating a toxic environment while at the same time resolving to “fix the toxic environment” is an interesting campaign strategy for any political position.
This is precisely what Jessica Gupta is doing in her run for the Rochester School Board.
On June 21, 2022, Gupta posted the following on her campaign page.
“There is no better way to distract yourself from toxicity than pouring yourself into others. I often think that if some people spent a quarter of the energy they spend trying to tear others down on volunteering for good instead, the world would be a much better place.”
Meanwhile, on Gupta’s donation page, she links her opponents to attacking public schools despite providing no proof of this connection.
“I am also convinced that the very notion of public education (a cornerstone of our democracy) is currently under attack by some who are working hard to divert tax dollars away from public schools and into private schools. I will be up against candidates who have aligned themselves with these efforts while also attempting to misrepresent and malign good faith efforts by members of our community to create a more inclusive school enviornment for all students.”
Being held accountable is not a personal attack. The candidates she is referring to do not, in fact, support moving tax dollars to private and charter schools. The candidates she is misrepresenting value diversity, transparency, and accountability and want to restore RCS to its former standard of excellence.
